What I wish I had known during my experience:

Be as outgoing as you can, say yes to as many activities as you can with your host family and friends. You will not regret it.

Speak up and practice the language as much as possible, DON'T BE EMBARRASSED OR SHY. It is THE opportunity to learn a new language, it can only benefit you and be useful for the rest of your life.

Tell if you don't understand something, don't be scared to ask for help. It is the bravest move you can make.

If you're feeling homesick, go outside and get out of the house. Think about something else by finding something that you're interested in. For me, going to the gym helped me a lot.

Acknowledge your emotions and it is OKAY to miss your country, family and friends. You will go through a lot and you can't avoid this feelings. You are human and brave to leave everything.

Take pictures, videos and write lots of stuff down about your experience. It will end faster than you can imagine, and archiving your stay will make it last longer in time. You will be happy to have a look through your archives and your future you will thank you. The last thing you want is to forget about this amazing experience.
